Meet dr. JOSEPH Iraci, m.D., F.A.C.S
Dr. Joseph Iraci is a graduate and valedictorian of Fordham University and New York Medical College. After surgical residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital and fellowship training at The University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Iraci began his surgical practice in 1983. He is Board Certified in Surgery and Critical Care Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His areas of special interest are minimally invasive abdominal surgery, gastro-intestinal surgery and hernia surgery.
According to Dr. Iraci, innovations in modern medicine have produced a large variety of important advances, but managed care has not been one of them. Currently, the insurance companies have created a wedge between their subscribers (patients) and their providers (doctors). I have long felt that this not the best course for either the patients or the physicians. As such, he has continued to provide Surgical care in a traditional manner giving each and every patient sufficient time for a clear understanding of their proposed procedure well in advance of the day of surgery. Post-operatively, appointments are scheduled within a specific time-frame to allow for a thorough description of the procedure performed, and a thorough explanation of what can be reasonably expected for their future will be given in understandable layman terms. This traditional method of patient care is combined with the latest surgical techniques of this modern age to provide optimal care of the whole person not just the disease being treated.
This old-school dedication, learned at the knee of his General Practitioner father, allows him the flexibility to see current as well as new patients on short-notice or as the need arises. His patients know their care is his primary concern, and the best possible outcome is of paramount importance to him. The testimonials of his patients attest to this.
